Blessed Plant-Based Protein Review

Have you ever gone to a nutrition store and looked at the different types of (vegan) protein brands available. Saw a new (relatively) brand that has flavours who's names were intriguing to say the least, but not sure whether to buy it. That was my experience when I first tried Blessed Plant-Based Protein. According to EHPlabs
Blessed Protein is a plant based, vegan-friendly protein for lean muscle development and weight management. The unique blend assists with recovery, increases performance and enhances endurance. It comes in a delicious range of flavors, making it irresistibly easy for everyone to hit their protein goal!
If I'm being completely transparent I was looking to get a plant-based/vegan protein powder for the first time to test whether Whey protein was actually causing my acne flare ups (turns out, it was), and Blessed protein was the one I went with. I did research and consulted with the nutrition store specialist to get their opinion on what was the best flavour, because anyone who's not a stranger to protein powders knows that with each brand's proteins there are go-to flavours and flavours that you avoid like the plague.
I've tested out various flavours which I will rate below with pros and cons, however overall, I would say that one nice thing about it is that the when mixed with water or milk the texture is creamy and thick, but the texture also tastes quite chalky, and the powder pops/spurts when you scoop it out; always leaving a mess behind.
In my opinion, Blessed Plant-Based Protein (and please don't shoot me for this), is very much an influencer brand; which is not necessarily a bad thing. For some people it might work, however for the majority (myself included) I prefer other brands. I say this because, and I won't take names, but I've spoken to some Athletes that have used Blessed Protein that have told me they do not like the flavour. I personally, having tried various flavours see merits to some but most I would not try again.
1 ) Chocolate Mylk ★★★★★

Description: Supposed to Taste like a Chocolate Milk Shake
Pros:
- Tastes pretty close to the flavour name
- Mixes well with other ingredients (coffee, bananas, nut butters, etc).
- Popular flavour
Cons:
- Not always available at nutrition stores (likely sold out because of popularity)
2 ) Salted Caramel ★★★★★

Pros:
- Tastes good like most salted caramel flavoured proteins
- Mixes well with other ingredients (coffee, bananas, chocolate, nut butters, etc)
- Tastes good on it's own.
- Generally popular flavour
Cons:
- Limited options to mix with
3 ) Strawberry Mylk ★★★★

Description: Supposed to Taste like a Strawberry Milkshake
Pros:
- Does taste similar to a strawberry milkshake, but I find it tastes more like a Strawberry Mylk Candy
- Tastes Good on it's own but also if you add fruits and vegegreens to it.
- Popular Flavour.
Cons:
- Not much variety of protein shake flavours to make with it.
4 ) Blueberry Pie ★★★

Pros:
- Decent Taste on it's own.
- Tastes similar to named flavour
Cons:
- Not many ways to mix with other ingredients
- Has a little bit of an after taste that takes some getting used to.
5 ) Choc Coconut ★★★

Pros:
- Tastes good if you mix with milk
- The coconut flavour is subtle but present in a good nuanced way
Cons:
- Needs to be mixed with milk instead of just water (which is not good if you need to cut the milk to stay within a caloric deficit or manage macros).
6 ) Vanilla Chai ★★★

Pros:
- Tastes better if you mix it with coffee, espressor, or a black tea to make it like a latte.
- Tastes better if you mix with Milk instead of just water
Cons:
- Does not taste good if on it's own (just water)
7 ) Peanut Butter Cups ★★

Pros:
- Mixes well with other ingredients (milk, nut butters, bananas, not so much coffee).
- Can mix in with oatmeal but adds a weird after taste.
Cons:
- Weird after taste
- Doesn't really taste good on it's own (aka just water)
8 ) Cookie Crunch ★

Cons:
- AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
- By far the worst flavour I've tried.
- Never having it again.
- Horrible overall taste (not just the after taste)
- The crunch (the crumbled wafers) taste disgusting
- I had to force myself to finish the container and never got used to the taste.
I, personally, would only get the following flavours if they were on sale for a really good deal.
Chocolate Mylk
Salted Caramel
Strawberry Mylk
I would at least try the Choc Coconut, Vanilla Chai, and Blueberry Pie; you can opt for the 1.1lb container instead of the 2.3lb container where available. However, I would steer clear of the Peanut Butter Cups and the Cookie Crunch unless you are the anomaly that tends to like the unpopular opinion.
Currently, I am making my way through the Blessed Strawberry Mylk and Peanut Butter Cups flavours because there was a good deal on it, and not my usual protein brand. Since I like the Strawberry Mylk I figured why not take the deal and try the Peanut Butter Cups flavour while I got the chance.
Unfortunately I have not been able to try all the flavours, but as I do I will update this article.
