I've been approached often by people interested in joining Midnight Runners. So I thought I would write up a little piece about common questions, how to sign up, what makes midnight runners different from other running groups, etc.
Why do I run with Midnight Runners?
It's a community of diverse like minded people with common interests, hobbies and personalities.
Party First, Run After; It focuses more on community building, social networking, and fostering an open and welcome environment to socialize and make lasting friendships, relationships & connections. Some people have even found their soulmate's there! I made quite a few meaningful connections there myself. People that I align with on many levels, people that challenge me and expand my horizons, and people that are just easy going & nice to be around; be comfortable and yourself.
We are a community that supports each other's endeavours; we are your cheer squad if you are running a race be it a 10K, a Half Marathon, Full Marathon, Spartan Race, Mud Runs, etc. I even had people in the community push & encourage me to do a dance exercise stop to a Bollywood song.
Custom curated playlists during the runs ensure the hype & vibe maintains throughout.
The Social Corner in the Heylo App is a discussion board where people post about open events & social gatherings that they are attending for you to get out and let loose.
After your first 10 runs you get a FREE Midnight Runners T-Shirt.
Midnight Runners is a global community with Multiple chapters/locations. If you're in a country/city with Midnight Runners they will welcome you with open arms. Giving you a social circle around the world.
Some common questions include:
Do you only run on Tuesdays?
Currently, in Toronto, our regular Bootcamp runs are on Tuesdays only, but we also have special event runs like Party Runs & Island Runs that can fall on other days. You can see the upcoming runs & events & register on the Heylo App (read on).
If you're visiting other cities with MR, be sure to check out the runs they have coming up.
Do you actually run at Midnight?
No, we don't usually run at Midnight. We typically meet up at our gathering hub (a local bar around 7pm, then head out to warm up for the run at 7:30pm, after which we start into the actual run which ends typically around 8:45pm-9pm depending on the length of the run. But the post run party usually goes until midnight ;)
How "fit" do I need to be to join midnight runners?
Midnight Runners is an open community with a go at your own pace mentality. That being said, it is suggested that you can run approximately 1.5-2km at a 6'00" - 6'30" pace without stopping or being completely burnt out after to keep the runners/community together.
How long are your runs?
Our runs range in length, but are typically between 5km to 7km with the seldom 10km.
